What is Tennis Elbow?
Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a painful issue caused by overuse of the elbow. Playing tennis or other racquet sports can cause this condition, but other activities and sports cause the condition as well. Inflammation of the tendons that join the forearm muscles on the outside of the elbowis the culprit. The forearm muscles and tendons become damaged from overuse caused by repeating the same motions again and again, which leads to pain on the outside of the elbow.
How Do We Treat Tennis Elbow?
Rest and ice is your first best option, followed by coaching to learn how to keep from over stressing the ligaments and tendons of the outer elbow. If pain is persistent, however, patients typically respond very well to chiropractic manipulation of the joints to correct the mechanics and soft tissue therapies to break up soft tissue damage and stimulate healing.
